Recently, a friend shared a cool story about her manager — He’s great at his job and has been with his company for close to 10 years.
Even though they’ve tried to promote him multiple times, he always says no.
When she asked him why, he simply said, “I value the time with my family and friends more than an extra few thousand dollars. I’m content with where I am.”
It got me thinking. I’m kind of the same way. I’ve had chances to climb up the job ladder, but I always hesitate.
Some might think I’m just scared. Or that I don’t have big dreams. But that’s not it.
For me, it’s all about knowing what I really want in life. Echoing Socrates’ timeless wisdom, “Know thyself,” I’ve figured out my joys and what holds value for me.
