Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom Has An Amazing Opening

Just to get ahead of it, this article will contain spoilers for the opening section of the game but not beyond it. The first thing I did when I put the cartridge into the Switch was to claim my Eshop points which I continue to save up for something fancy but I don’t know what yet. After I felt slightly richer despite spending money on the Collector’s Edition and definitely not getting any extra points for it I loaded up the game.

I was surprised with how the game booted up. There was no splash screen or intro video. Nintendo had decided to try and make the storytelling more immersive from the offset by going straight into the game. I think by the time I finished the game, I had only seen the title screen about 3 times even though I put around 45–50 hours into it. Sleep mode is so good on the Switch.
