You Are Enough: Understanding It’s Not About You, It’s Them

If you’re like me, you’ve probably asked yourself, “Am I enough?” I’m here to tell you that if you possess values, morals, ethics, and purpose, you are not only enough, but you are more than enough.

There’s a metaphor in Arabic that, when roughly translated, means “nothing fills the eye other than dirt.” In the Arab culture, the “eye” symbolizes human desires and needs, while “dirt” represents the end or the grave. Essentially, this metaphor means humans will never truly be satisfied until they meet their end.

Consider this: you have a family member whom you support financially. You set aside 20 or 30% of your earnings to support them. However, they may want 50, 60, or even 70% of what you earn, leaving you feeling that no matter what you do or give, it is never enough.

Consider a romantic relationship: you might dedicate 40% of your time to your partner, cherishing moments and creating memories. They might crave 50, 60, or even all 100% of your time, leading you to question if you’re truly offering them enough attention.
