<p>During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, many small businesses closed due to<a href="https://www.pnas.org/content/117/30/17656" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank"> reductions in demand and health concerns among employees</a>. For Stevenson, however, who doesn’t have a full-time employee on staff, the increase in individuals stuck in their homes for extended periods of time allowed her firm to experience a surge in design and home improvement projects.</p>
<p>“I did so much construction. You know, my carpenter now still has a waitlist of 12 people deep from COVID,” she said.</p>
