Why am I building Android apps?

I started building Android apps around 2018 when everyone wanted to make money by building apps that solve real-world problems. I took on an internship with very little experience. I build a couple of Android apps using Firebase and Google APIs.

I was more and more comfortable with building apps and later on started exploring backend technologies like JSP, PHP, Node, and Django. Took multiple paid internships that allowed me to build platforms in education, finance, and e-commerce domains. I had acquired a good amount of experience for a person who is just studying in college.

I wrote a lot of Python around 2019–2021 this was pure Python and desktop app. And I was a very heavy user of Git and Github, I used to commit every single line of code be it my assignments or something I was working on. My Github looked greener day by day.

Around May 2021, I was starting to learn Kotlin for Android. I wanted to make an app that would last long and was fun to build and it didn’t require any external paid service, in short, it was a offline app. So the idea of a music player popped up as I was very into Apashe.

There were many music player apps on GitHub but still I wanted to make one by myself. The journey of building it hand was fascinating rather than the outcome it will produce. So I started working on Music Player Lite. I wanted to build it in Kotlin, but the excitement of building it took over, and end up writing it in Java. The app is currently on the play store and doing fine around 2K+ downloads. Also on GitHub, it got plenty of stars.

I wanted the music player app to be my Linux like Torvalds but soon I wanted to work on git i.e. mangatain, it is a manga reader app that scraps off different sites. Why did I build this? just for the stars, I knew manga is very famous and people will certainly stumble upon this app and start the project for the efforts. It was fun building it, but it died, the reason I was not good at handling image data and displaying it properly. I didn’t research more and get that fixed the project is sitting idle.
