What if Your Partner is Not on Board?

I read a book on high-end training for elite athletes and one point that the author brought up throughout the book was that if you have people around you that are not supportive of your efforts you should get those people out of your life because they will impact your success.

It seemed harsh but I understood his point.

Unsupportive people or people who are openly antagonistic toward your views are going to make your life difficult.

In a disagreement between two people if one party has already decided that you are wrong there will be no chance of settling the issue.

This presents a problem for someone who believes that we are in the middle of the collapse of everything.

It may very well spell the end of your relationship.

I am currently without a partner which is a situation that I am happy with. If I encounter someone who is in denial I don’t have to try to convince them that we’re in trouble I can just walk away.

If you are involved with someone, however, it’s an entirely different thing.

Partners can vary widely in how they react to your position. It can be something like, “Let’s agree to disagree” a statement that I find offensive and dismissive up to I can’t live with someone like you.

I have been told that it must be hard to live with being depressed all the time which is another statement that assumes because I accept the situation that I must be depressed all the time which is patently untrue.
