Wearing Color with Confidence

Why must we even need to build the confidence to wear color? I think this question warrants a deeper exploration. In years past, the prevailing trends in the fashion world circulated around the “clean girl” aesthetic, emphasizing essentials in basic colors. What I noticed with this trend was the absence of colorful options that influencers and fashionistas promoted. There was a big push for neutral colors, and the whole vibe was presented as polished and quiet. This didn’t leave much room for creativity, as everyone was trying to replicate this refined style. Inherently, this caused girls to purchase specific clothing in neutral colors to conform to this trend. I also think about the corporate world wardrobe “norms.” Practically every professor I have had in the states has told me that you should not wear a colorful…well anything, when interviewing for a job. I have never understood this. To me, this is complete confinement of fashion freedom. An interview is meant to showcase your personality, and a substantial part of a person’s personality is how they choose to present themselves. So yeah, if you want to walk into the office in a bright pink pantsuit, do it… and I will applaud you!!
