Vivek Ramaswamy: America’s Next Big Political Fraud

The latest toast of the town in many Republican activist circles is presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. A biotech and healthcare entrepreneur, the 38-year-old Ramaswamy — born in Cincinnati, Ohio — is often invoked as the Republican Party’s answer to Pete Buttigieg or Jon Ossoff.

Being a Millennial myself, I understand the GOP’s desire to appeal to younger voters. As The View’s Alyssa Farah Griffin has accurately reminded Americans on multiple occasions throughout this past year: Millennials and Zoomers are poised to be the largest voting bloc during the 2024 General Election.

And with the popularity of Democratic “fresh blood” such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Elissa Slotkin, Maxwell Frost, Summer Lee, Ritchie Torres, Sara Jacobs, Lauren Underwood, and Ruben Gallego — elder stalwarts within the Republican Party are desperately seeking their own rising stars who can sell conservative and libertarian ideas to the “Under 45” set.

Some of Ramaswamy’s fiercest criticism stems from his failure at shepherding the 5HT6 receptor antagonist intepirdine as an effective treatment for Alzheimer’s disease. As he told moderator Leland Vittert during an Aug. 14 townhall forum hosted by NewsNation, it was worth the drawback because it opened up the pipeline for plenty of other biotech innovations that have succeeded.

But that unsuccessful drug trial is the least of what bothers me about this up-and-coming hotshot.
