My first year as a professional UX designer — part 1, Pre-history

Until a year ago, I worked as a front-end developer for many years, and before that, I worked in many areas of the IT sector.
I’ve always found web- and application design much more appealing than API fetches and JavaScript coding. (I am still in love with coding, but only to a certain point. )

At a time I began to experience struggles at work. I shared my concerns with my wife — back then she was only my girlfriend — who constantly provided support and encouragement. (She still does.)
During a chat around a campfire, we were talking about what I really want to do, it was easy to say, that design and UX are my real interests. I decided to take action, step by step. It is also part of the story that we wanted to leave the country because we didn’t want to live in a politically toxic and economically unpredictable atmosphere anymore.
