Pregnancy is Dangerous, Debilitating, and Costly Unpaid Work
<p>Why hadn’t I understood that before? I’ve been pregnant four times and birthed three children. I’ve experienced the dangers and hardships first hand. I should have put 2 and 2 together.</p>
<p>But I didn’t. Because the cultural zeitgeist cloaks pregnancy in an aura of holiness. Pregnant women are splendid goddesses creating life, or so the story goes. Except these goddesses aren’t worshiped, they’re kicked to the curb — at least in the U.S., the very country whose <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0SwwyqhJMs" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank"><strong>“I like beer!” Supreme Court</strong></a> wants to force women to gestate children against their will.</p>
