“Embarking on an Unexpected Path: Where I Am Now?
<p>Three weeks before the tumultuous event of Brexit, two months ahead of the global quarantine, and one year prior to the cracking of my financial stability, I made the bold move to Madrid. My initial plan was simple: a one-year sabbatical to recalibrate my life’s trajectory, sample the expat experience, explore the vibrant city, engage with the intriguing Spanish culture (and men!), and perhaps, amidst all the adventures, elevate my Spanish proficiency from a timid ‘Hola’ to a confident ‘Que Tal?’ Sadly, my language progression during that first year closely resembled this journey — slow and uncertain.</p>
<p>Yet, amidst the linguistic struggles, something magical happened. I found myself immersed in a unique chapter of my life, living in a dynamic co-living space. For the first time, I let go of the shackles of convention and allowed myself to make decisions purely for the joy they promised me. I traded cautious planning for spontaneous adventures and self-discovery.</p>
