Solo camping trip to Katmai

Would you ever camp in an island frequented by bears to the extent that an electric fence is necessary for the campground? Especially when the fence doesn’t completely prevent bears but rather acts as a deterrent.

This is Katmai National park in Alaska. Camping opportunities are restricted to just 60 individuals per day, making reservations quite hard to get. A significant advantage for solo travelers, however, is the ease of securing last-minute cancellations for single-person bookings. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity when I found a last minute camping spot.
