Travelogue: Trying to Understand
<p>The Fabulous Wife sums up our trip best: “I like Amsterdam much more than Berlin, and I had a better time there, but I find myself thinking more about Berlin. I am still trying to understand it.”</p>
<p>The only thing I’d add is that I’m trying to understand <em>Germany</em>, not just Berlin. I mean, what to make of <em>this</em>?</p>

<p>We found it in front of an antique store in Wittenberg, with nothing around it to provide context.</p>

<p>We’ve searched the internet to no avail — no similar artifact found. I suppose we could have gone into the store and asked, but assuming the proprietor spoke English, would he or she have told us the truth? So we’re on our own for an interpretation.</p>
