Stop Asking “Would you Date a Trans Person?”
<p>Whether or not you are ultimately supportive of trans people when discussing this question and no matter your answer, it is not a conversation that cis people should be having – especially not publicly. Recently, I watched a video where YouTuber Samantha Lux reacted to a video from the YouTube channel Jubilee of Gay Liberals and Gay Conservatives (going to ignore the cognitive dissonance that surrounds the topic of gay conservatives for now) debate a series of topics.</p>
<p>When the question “Would you Date a Trans Man?” arose, Samantha decided to skip that part of the video. “The conversation in general is humiliating and it’s damaging.” She explained. “Hearing conversations like these when I was first transitioning really taught me that I was unloveable because I was trans.” This feeling of unlovability is one that I believe every trans person has experienced at least once in their life.</p>
