Training the TikTok Algorithm
<p>Like many elder-Millenials, I joined TikTok shortly after the first lockdown’s isolation and monotony kicked in. I figured I’d see what was up with this platform, expecting to find stupid dances and ridiculous trends that would keep me entertained for maybe a few days.</p>
<p>Well, it’s a fair amount of time later, and now I follow dozens of interesting, creative, fascinating and, yes, attractive people. I still don’t post (apart from one video of my cat). I still do spend time infinitely scrolling.</p>
<p>But a few months into my TikTok time-wasting, I saw a video from a creator, questioning how many POCs their viewers were seeing on the FYP (For You Page) and realised mine was whiter than snow.</p>
