The Numbers Game : Who was the best QMJHL player in 2023?

Everything starts with a question. Last week, I met one of my old friends at the food court of the building when I work. He asked me what I was doing in life. So I told him about my sports data analytics projects. He was surprised. But he also explained that he does not see how data can be implemented in sports. He cited various experiences where things did not make sense like this year when he was on a really good basketball team and lost in the finals, but has won with a much weaker team. He was confused by how we could use mathematics to explain that. The reality is that with a little bit of math and understanding of the game, you can assess the context of both situations and try to compare what elements factored in the outcomes. All that to say that math is everywhere. This summer was extremely exciting for me. Got hired in professional hockey. Then, my team vanished due to the league being bought. Then, with the promising hockey analyst François Kik, we were finalists of the WHKYHAC 2023, still leaving with the prize of the Most Innovative Project. Also, I was proud to publish the result of months of work about hockey prospects.
