A Thanksgiving Menu of “What Ifs”

Winter is a good time to sit by a wood stove in the “box” that’s your house and “think outside the box” about “what ifs.” That’s how Congregational minister, musician, and naturalist Rob McCall began a 2010 post-Thanksgiving episode of a weekly muse known as the Awanadjo Almanack that he delivered for decades on a community radio station in Maine prior to his death last spring.

Rob’s Almanack was “devoted to feeling at home in nature and breaking down the wall of hostility between us and the rest of creation.” That’s a hard job, but Rob did it so brilliantly that they still broadcast past episodes every week. I listen whenever I can.
