What is TechBio?
<p>At <a href="http://cantos.vc/" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">Cantos</a>, we invest in the near frontier — companies that are pushing the boundaries of what is possible to advance human and environmental health. While there are many ways in which we can and must advance humanity, none is more obvious than through breakthrough discoveries within biology itself.</p>
<p>For nearly two decades, the <a href="https://a16z.com/2011/08/20/why-software-is-eating-the-world/" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">tech revolution</a> consumed nearly every industry <a href="https://www.baybridgebio.com/blog/young_founders_2.html" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">except biotech</a>. Biotech was too capital intensive, too conservative, and too time-consuming to be put on a trajectory similar to that of the software companies that defined the early 2000s — or so many thought. But while the funding structures and archetype of biotech companies remained shielded from change, the pace of innovation in the field picked up.</p>
