A Brief History of Women Empowerment: From Suffrage to Today
<p>The Seneca Falls Convention in 1848 was a milestone in women’s history, as it marked the first women’s rights convention in the United States. Women gathered to discuss the social, civil, and religious rights of women and to draft a Declaration of Sentiments, modeled after the Declaration of Independence. It declared that “all men and women are created equal” and demanded the right to vote.</p>
<p>The suffragettes were a group of courageous women who fought for voting rights through protests, demonstrations, and hunger strikes. These women were often met with violent opposition from law enforcement and male counter-protesters. However, their perseverance paid off when the 19th Amendment was passed in 1920, granting women the right to vote.</p>
