Ride the Vintage Redbirds: NYC Subway Revival

The Train of Many Colors is made up of R-33, R-33WF, and R-36 cars from the museum’s vintage fleet, all manufactured in the 1960s. The different paint schemes, such as “Tartar Red,” “Gunn Red,” “Kale Green,” “Platinum Mist,” and a two-tone robin’s egg blue and cream “Bluebird,” represent the festive look of the train and the subway’s historical evolution.

Passengers will have the opportunity to experience subway travel from a bygone era, with vintage features like era-specific subway ads, rattan seat covers, and different signage. The vintage subway cars are normally housed at the authentic 1936 subway station that now serves as the New York Transit Museum in Downtown Brooklyn.
