(South) Asians are Anti-Black — and I wrote a Book about It

It’s called Love & Prejudice: Unlearning Anti-Blackness as a South Asian.

I talk about my own history of anti-Black prejudice and racism, and pull the curtain back on all the horrible nonsense I learned from my Indian community. I talk about my divorce, my healing, and my personal journey of overcoming a lot of my own trauma.

But mostly, I talk about falling in love with a Black man and learning just how truly f*cked up I was as a person before I met him.

I tackle things like the myth of the model minority, the impact of colonialism and casteism on our perception of Black people in America (“our” being the collective Asian community, in all its diversity and non-monolithism). I talk about what it’s been like navigating parenthood with a mixed-race Black and Indian baby.
