The Soleb Inscription Proves The Documentary Hypothesis Wrong
<p>There is a very significant Egyptian inscription dated to the reign of Amenhotep III around the end of the 15th century BCE. On this inscription is written “Yhw in the land of the Shasu ‘’ Most Egyptologists accept that this is the oldest mention outside of the Bible of the Tetragrammaton. One of these egyptologists Donald Redford has said in his book Egypt, Israel and Canaan in Ancient Times (1993)</p>
<p>“<em>Even though Egyptologists accept the appearance of the name Yahweh in these topographical lists at Soleb and Amarah West, the implications of its appearance do not seem to have been fully appreciated by Old Testament scholars”</em></p>
<p>There are different opinions on who these Shasu are. The scholar Dr. Titus Kennedy is his article “Land of the Shasu (Nomads) of Yhw at Soleb” thinks it could definitely be Israel before Israel was settled or before the Kingdom in Israel. He writes</p>
