Sociological Analysis: Invictus

<p>Invictus is defined as unconquered, unsubdued, and invincible. It is an apt name for this film in which, the president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela was tasked with trying to unify a nation that had lived under Apartheid for 50 years. Blacks and Whites had been systematically segregated in all walks of life and the racial divide in the country had reached a boiling point.</p> <p><em>Invictus&nbsp;</em>is exemplary of how sport can be the impetus for change in society; through the country&rsquo;s favorite sport, Rugby, South Africans of any creed or color could unite in cheering on their beloved Springboks. It would not be easy as 50 years of intended racism was going to make any journey towards reconciliation a tough one.
