A Regular Snowbird

Here I am, profiting a lazy warm Sunday afternoon, contemplating a sunny beach…in February. Definitely I am not in Canada. In fact, I am at my mom’s in Rio de Janeiro, in Copacabana, where she lives. Rio is undoubtedly the most beautiful large city on the planet and I have been around! Paris is the most charming, London the most enigmatic and with the most fantastic underground lightlife ( rivalling with Berlin, for sure), Toronto the most boring and Ottawa the coldest. But Rio de Janeiro is unbeatable. There are some drawbacks, of course. The sea water is very cold ( there is this cold stream that hits Rio coming straight from the South Pole), traffic is hectic, criminality levels are not as good as in Finland, people sometimes talk too loud touch you all the time but the nature here beats it all. I dreamt of these white sandy beaches during many nights in Calgary, in Ottawa and in Montreal and it is good to be here. If you haven’t been to Rio, you are missing a lot and with their currency rate now at our favour, Brazil is a smart choice for a next vacation.

Learn More
