Should We Go Back to the Smoke-Filled Room?

Donald Trump is the presumptive Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election. This is because, in the world’s most prominent democracy, something like one in every 1400 Americans voted for him to be the nominee.

Trump has essentially clinched the nomination after the Iowa caucuses, where he garnered 56,000 votes (51% of the total), and the New Hampshire primary, where he garnered 176,000 (54% of the total). He has secured 32 of 1,215 available delegates. The results in these states, #31 and #42 in population were enough to convince most observers that he has the nomination sewed up.
