Can We Please Stop $h!tting on Immigrants
<p>Now isn’t a great time to be an immigrant in the United States. We’re letting families live in unsanitary and exposed <a href="https://apnews.com/article/new-york-migrants-brooklyn-floyd-bennett-field-5a1c7c5b31b60731150d81e7b456e55c" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">tent cities</a>. We’re stopping federal agents from <a href="https://apnews.com/article/texas-immigration-border-drownings-deaths-cbp-dps-national-guard-tmd-baa099b2511ecea07c534a61b4212fb0#:~:text=US%20says%20Texas%20blocked%20border,save%203%20migrants%20who%20drowned&text=BROWNSVILLE%2C%20Texas%20(AP)%20%E2%80%94,rescue%20three%20migrants%20who%20drowned." rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">saving migrant lives</a>. The cops are <a href="https://www.firstcoastnews.com/article/news/crime/attorney-for-man-accused-in-death-st-johns-county-deputy/77-b2b6a5e9-d968-4387-b13b-d61ab731ac11" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">prosecuting immigrants</a> for being victims of police brutality. Politicians are even talking about how they’d just <em>love </em>to shoot <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/news/greg-abbott-shooting-migrants-headache-of-potential-murder-charges" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">pedestrians at the border</a> — if only there weren’t all those pesky murder laws.</p>
<p>Aside from the <strong>BUILD THE WALL!!!</strong> cohort, who hate everyone with a “weird” name or a “funny” accent, too many natural-born US citizens have no clue about their own <a href="https://jetsettimes.com/inspiration/social-justice/passport-privilege-what-is-it-and-how-does-it-affect-you/" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">passport privilege</a>, <a href="https://sites.lsa.umich.edu/inclusive-teaching-2/wp-content/uploads/sites/732/2017/08/Examples-of-US-Citizenship-Privilege.pdf" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">citizenship privilege</a>, or what it’s actually like to be an immigrant in this country.</p>
