Should You Use PHP (Laravel) in 2023

PHP has been criticized a lot in recent years and I for one haven't been the biggest of fans, not at all actually, so I think that this article will have no biased opinions as I'd like to discuss is PHP and more specifically the Laravel framework so bad.

A Little Background

To begin with, I just want to say that my favorite language and the one I work with is C#. I also like Golang and I find it really nice, but honestly, it's probably not the wise decision to choose Go for a side project since it's not that feature heavy and you'll end up coding more time than you probably anticipated.

Pros

1. Development Time

On that note, I do think C# enables you to develop software faster than Go, but realistically it's probably not a huge difference. My bigger problem with Go is that the language itself has been created for concurrency and is great for Microservices, which, you most likely won't consider using as your preferred architecture for a small project.

I am paying some attention to development time since Laravel is famous for the ease of use it offers and the fact that you've got all this cool functionality from the framework that allows you to develop an application over the weekend. But as I mentioned, you can probably do that with any language nowadays so that's probably not a reasonable excuse to choose PHP.
