E-A-T matters more in competitive niches. If you're in finance, health, legal, or professional services and your site doesn't clearly signal expertise and authoritativeness, Google has no good reason to rank you above someone who does.

And backlinks from relevant, authoritative sources still carry more weight than any on-page fix. Quality over quantity always.
