Redesigning Seasonal Quartet’s Book Cover

<p>The objective of this project was to redesign the covers of three books from a series that we could find in a bookstore. Along these lines, I chose Ali Smith&rsquo;s &ldquo;Seasonal Quartet&rdquo; to work on.</p> <p><img alt="" src="https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:613/1*1C1yEcYoS5qNyOmyGim01Q.png" style="height:792px; width:613px" /></p> <p>First, I started with different sketches to work on the book.</p> <p><img alt="" src="https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:612/1*VXieCDQo9kfztO7pFcGVWw.png" style="height:792px; width:500px" /></p> <p><img alt="" src="https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:612/1*AWZMqXlBeOInxCvtaTPNNA.png" style="height:792px; width:500px" /></p> <p><img alt="" src="https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:612/1*Ldbv7Hwy8cBs1xrlfZNcBQ.png" style="height:792px; width:500px" /></p> <p><img alt="" src="https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:612/1*H0rJ34jtBZtEk90ovsG-6A.png" style="height:792px; width:500px" /></p> <p>After all, I opted for black and white photographs to give it a timeless and evocative look. I used contrasting colors to add a contemporary touch and emphasize key elements on the covers, such as the title and the author&rsquo;s name. Additionally, I selected photographs of people&rsquo;s faces to reflect the importance of human stories in the books, connecting with the diversity of characters and narratives in Ali Smith&rsquo;s works.</p> <p>Furthermore, the faces of the people in the photographs are depicted with the ripped hole. This symbolizes vulnerability and the fragmentation of contemporary society, as well as the challenges faced by the characters in the books, such as social injustices, politics, technology, media, and more.</p> <p><a href="https://medium.com/@anci7022/redesigning-seasonal-quartets-book-cover-22c3ad0110b5"><strong>Read More</strong></a></p>
