Putin is Too Good for Russia, says Girkin

Igor Girkin, also known as Strelkov, “the shooter,” is the Russian agent behind the 2014 invasion of Donbas and Crimea, the shooting down of the Malaysian air MH14 flight in 2014, and, by his own admission and the testimony of collaborators, the man responsible for the violence and civilian deaths in Donbas prior to the 2022 escalation of the war. He participated in the wars in Transnistria, Bosnia, and Chechnya before going to Ukraine. After fomenting the annexation of Crimea, he moved to Donbas, where he briefly served as the Minister of Defense for the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic. After being ousted, he returned to Russia and became a blogger, criticizing Putin’s policies in Ukraine, up to the summer of 2023, when he was arrested. He is now a political prisoner in Russia awaiting trial.

Girkin says that Putin refuses to lead military operations himself and that Girkin is more competent in military affairs than Putin and Shoigu and is, therefore, more fit to fulfill the obligations of the Commander in Chief of the Russian Army.
