Programming Languages to Learn Today and Others That Are Slowly Dying

<p>One of the most daunting tasks of a software engineer is to stay updated on the latest trends and technologies. There&rsquo;s a constant barrage of new things to learn, but we can only do so much.</p> <p>As we start working on a new technology, other stones are left unturned, and some are even put back into the ground.</p> <p>That&rsquo;s why I want to investigate what programming languages attract the most developers and which are heading for a slow but steady death.</p> <h2>About the data and method</h2> <p>The data comes from the&nbsp;<a href="https://survey.stackoverflow.co/2023/" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">StackOverflow Developer Survey</a>, a yearly survey asking developers a wide range of questions.</p> <p>Each year has around 70K respondents from different parts of the world and with different roles.</p> <p>In this story, I&rsquo;m showing you the popularity of different programming languages for 2021, 2022, and 2023.</p> <p>I&rsquo;ve decided to treat all languages equally, even if that means comparing apples with oranges.</p> <h2>About the question</h2> <p>The survey has several questions, but the one we&rsquo;re looking at asks what programming languages the respondent have worked with extensively in the past year.</p> <p><a href="https://levelup.gitconnected.com/the-fastest-growing-and-fastest-shrinking-programming-languages-644949cd1de6">Read More</a></p>
