I always had fabulous plans to travel throughout Europe for a few months. I envisioned painting my version of a "Starry Night." Telling my story via a blog.

My list was endless.

How about you? Do you have great plans? If you're sober, you may have already actualized a few of your dreams.

If you're still drinking — not yet. Maybe tomorrow?

Here are several reasons drinkers might procrastinate when it comes to their dreams:

Impaired decision-making: Alcohol consumption can impair judgment and decision-making abilities. Drinkers often make more impulsive decisions, prioritizing short-term gratification — such as drinking — over long-term goals.

Lack of motivation: Excessive drinking can destroy motivation and energy. Drinkers may feel apathetic or unmotivated to pursue their objectives. I certainly had dreams but lacked the motivation to go forward with them.

Time management issues: Alcohol abusers might have poor time management skills. They find it challenging to allocate sufficient time for goal-related activities or stick to a schedule.

Reduced self-control: Drinking can weaken self-control and impulse control. This can result in procrastination. What control? Isn't that the problem with drinking? Lack of self-control is a significant downside of drinking.
