The Problematic Commodification of Trap Music: A Musical Analysis

<p>Art is a unique and necessary medium in our society. It allows us to convey complex ideas &amp; attitudes and allows viewers to reflect on the state &amp; subconsciousness of ourselves and our societies. Art has also served, historically, as one of the primary outlets of expression and resistance for Black Americans throughout their oppression in the United States. In the songs&nbsp;<em>This is America</em>&nbsp;by Childish Gambino and&nbsp;<em>Norf Norf</em>&nbsp;by Vince Staples, two prevalent rhythm and poetry (RAP) artists in African American music, for two contrasting reasons, we can see art serve its purpose of portraying complex themes and exposing the underbelly of culture and our attitudes towards it.</p> <p><a href="https://talliwrites.medium.com/rap-music-the-white-america-s-commodization-of-the-black-americans-experience-9a5ec9211d5b"><strong>Visit Now</strong></a></p>
