I was packing up at the end of a trade show at Hanscom AFB and this man came up and asked if he could have a pen. I said of course. He took one. Just one. I said to him “you can have them all if you like we have so many.” He was surprised but happy and took them, there were about a dozen. He told me he gives them to his students, that he gives talks about the importance of science and such, telling them “there is plenty of opportunity out there if you just apply yourself!’ We talked a few minutes. He was passionate and confident. I handed him an iPad cover and told him “take that too, one of your students will love having that.” He said “I’ll give it to one of my “A” students.” I told him to make them earn it and he laughed.
