America’s Breeding of Criminals and Perpetual Crimes
<p>There were several inmates within hearing distance of this dialogue. When they heard this remark from this particular staff member their expression was one of shock and surprise. It really should not have come as a surprise, sad to say. My experience with prison staff of various rank has always tended toward the antiquated view of punishment over rehabilitation. Truly, the fact that the agencies charged with reforming American citizens — and foreign nationals — of their wrong behavior and thinking even bearing the title of Department of Corrections is a sad irony. It is tragic, actually, given the reality of rampant corruption throughout America’s entire judicial system and the whole of its government.</p>
