<p>Have you ever felt upset when listening to a harrowing true story? Your heart races, empathy kicks in, and before you know it, you’re suffering as though you’re involved in the story personally.</p>
<p>Your physical symptoms are real. Your emotional symptoms are real. But you weren’t present when the unhappy event took place. Still, you’re left with the results of listening to the traumatic tale and need to handle them.</p>
<p>We might seemingly take on people’s suffering, and our concerns are normal. Compassion is a good thing and can motivate us to help others.
