Oppression: Normalcy Bias vs. Outrage Culture
<p>If you search #justiceforMohbad #Mohbad or “Mohbad” on your social media accounts or the internet or just search for Mohbad using any search engine, you will come across inundating content about a music artist from Nigeria, real name, Promise Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, a 27-year-old who died in his prime. Videos of oppression, abuse and harassment allegedly orchestrated by the founder of his former record label and a supposed political tout that had been online before gained more visibility and more seemed to be released. The outrage was infectious and the erstwhile police that he had petitioned about the threat to his life finally commenced an investigation into his death. Even the Federal House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria discussed this controversy on the floor of the honourable house.</p>
