Everything changes from that moment on.</p> <p>In actual fact though, none of that happens.</p> <p>I&rsquo;ve found most revelations come through reflection, not through the experience itself. Most of the time I didn&rsquo;t realise it was a revelation until I revisited the moment in my head months later. In fact, most revelations increase in gravity the more I reflect on them.</p> <p>One revelation that has had the biggest impact on my life is the one-person business model.</p> <h1>The old model of life and business</h1> <p>For a long time, work meant a trade-off.</p> <p>A trade-off of time and happiness. Work, as my mum and dad used to say, is in the name, it&rsquo;s work. You&rsquo;re not meant to like it. And that&rsquo;s been the accepted narrative for the longest while.</p> <p>A job isn&rsquo;t meant to be fulfilling or freeing.</p> <p>A job is to earn money so that outside of work you can do the things you&nbsp;<em>actually&nbsp;</em>like to do. You get paid, that&rsquo;s the reward. And so that&rsquo;s sort of what people did.
