Novel software aids in the fight against cancer with BioDynaMo
<p>Originating from the CERN openlab inside the CERN IT division, BioDynaMo is a cutting-edge instrument for "in silico" testing, or computer-based experimentation. It develops and executes intricate 3D computer simulations based on mathematical models to better understand the course of cancer and choose the best course of action for individual tumor instances.</p>
<p>Researchers from the University of Texas at Austin, the Technical University of Munich, and CERN showed in a new scientific journal how BioDynaMo has the potential to significantly advance medical therapy. The effects of two anti-cancer medications, trastuzumab and doxorubicin, as well as observed tumor growth are accurately simulated by the model. Scientists demonstrated the platform's capacity to replicate varying degrees of pharmacological efficacy, therapy combinations, and dose regimens by fitting the BioDynaMo models to the available pre-clinical data.</p>
