Recalling the Mysore Lancers’ valiant pursuit during the “Great War”

<p>A significant fight that had a relation to the former princely State of Mysore took place on September 23, 1918, toward the close of the First World War (1914&ndash;1918), in Haifa (now in Israel). That day in Haifa, troops from the Mysore Lancers, a cavalry unit established by the Mysore State and armed solely with lances (a long spear-like javelin), overcame the better-equipped Ottoman soldiers, winning one of the most significant battles of the &ldquo;Great War&rdquo; for the Allied forces.
