Music Power Couples: How Should We, As Music Journalists, Report On Them?
<p>Tabloids and gossip blogs love to fill our news feeds with music artist couples who are currently popular. Whether it’s two young love birds whose fire burns out ever so quickly or a toxic pairing whose end date we could all see from a mile away, the constant news cycle about these people is exhausting. Not only does it take away from the music both artists make, but it also puts our focus on the wrong things. In addition to blogs forcing couples’ cuteness or fashion prowess down our throats, they also inundate us with interrelationship drama that should be left private between two people.</p>
<p>There is a better way to talk about and report musical couples. <strong>In this piece, I’m going to explain precisely how. By the end of the piece, I aim for the reader to recognize what a wasteful news story is versus a valuable one. Once they know what news story is worth reading, I want them to champion and celebrate those stories and the couples within them.</strong></p>
