I Went to the Mountains to Learn Meditation — Here’s What Happened

<p>People who book meditation retreats are either looking for answers to serious life questions or are experienced meditators seeking something more intensive. I do not fall into either of those categories.</p> <p>I have never believed in the practice of&nbsp;<a href="https://betterhumans.pub/the-three-meditation-techniques-to-develop-laser-focus-and-get-answers-to-lifechanging-questions-721345f818d2?sk=6502d4b385c5a4c0222137702a426575" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">meditation</a>. Sitting in one place for a long time, sometimes for hours at a stretch, made little sense to me.</p> <p>My mantra has always been &mdash; move daily, move often. It&rsquo;s unhealthy for your body to stay in one position for so long.</p> <p>Yet, here I was at a Buddhist meditation retreat, a place where we practised stillness for most of our waking hours.
