The Motivation Behind Reading “Walkable City” by Jeff Speck

Sunny Los Angeles is a destination famous for Hollywood dreamers, gorgeous beaches, and the traffic gridlock. Even La La Land opens with a pollyannaish homage to it. As romantic and colourful as the movie makes it out to be, the unbearable traffic in LA was the last straw that made me ask my local bookstore for a copy of Walkable City by Jeff Speck, a city planner and urban designer making a case for why walkable cities are better for our health, better for the planet and better for the economy too.

While I wait for the book to be in my hands, I watched Jeff Speck’s TED Talk that he incredibly gave a decade ago!
