Hiking in the Alps: Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB)

The Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) is a very popular and classic hiking circuit in Europe that takes hikers around the 15,771ft (~4800m) Mont Blanc massif in the Alps. The peak itself is located on the border of France and Italy, but the circuit takes hikers across three countries, France, Italy and Switzerland. The official route is ~105 miles (170Km) and takes between 7–10 days to complete. There is a tunnel directly under Mont Blanc for vehicles, and most of trailheads are easily accessible by roads and ski-lifts/gondolas that criss-cross the area and operate when the weather permits. Hikers have plenty of options between various modes of transportation if they want to get around.
