Microsoft Announced Python In Excel. I knew it!

I knew it! We have Python in Excel!

As you may recall, if you’re subscribed to my articles, a year ago I was reporting that:

As a Python programmer you have to remember when four years ago Microsoft was considering to introduce Python as a scripting language for Excel — Microsoft’s flagship spreadsheet application:

And I wrote that:

I am not saying someone already implements Python support for Excel, I am rather saying that there might be an ongoing exploratory process.

As of August 2023 I can confirm my predictions occurred to be spot on!

In a big announcement made on August, 22, Microsoft confirmed Excel will support Python:

Today we’re announcing (…) releasing a Public Preview of Python in Excel.

Python in Excel is rolling out to Public Preview for those in the Microsoft 365 Insiders program, using the Beta Channel in Excel for Windows.

With the new Excel you’ll be able to write cell formals in Python
