Memento Mori Mac Miller: Addiction, Recovery, and Remembering the Music of Millenial Youth

January always brings goals, resolutions, and proclamations of “New Year, New Me.” Last month also brought an energetic clearing as I focused on transferring several years of old documents and files from my over-stuffed Macbook to an external hard drive I purchased in 2017. Looking through this hard drive, I was surprised to find over a hundred gigabytes of old photographs, videos, and files detailing the decade of my life from 2009 to 2017, otherwise known as my years in higher education.

My resolution for the year is uploading more posts about my memoir project. So, this discovery significantly impacted me as I attempted to finish my memoirs from the early 2000’s. It felt like I had opened a time capsule from a long-forgotten version of myself as I began piecing together the puzzle of a period lost in my mind.
