Image Classification for Prediction of Lung Cancer

Abnormal cell growth in the lung can be called lung cancer. Lung cancer is one of the most serious diseases in this decade. Based on data Global Cancer Statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN Estimates of Incidence and Mortality Worldwide for 36 Cancers in 185 Countries lung cancer is globally the second most commonly diagnosed cancer with over 2,2 million new cases and the leading cause of cancer death, with an estimated 1.8 million deaths in 2020.

In the medical world, accuracy is required in dealing with a problem to prevent the loss of a person’s life. The use of images such as CT scans is very commonly used to detect lung cancer. It’s just that if humans do it, it is very difficult to differentiate between those who have cancer or not. This could happen because the resulting image is less clear. After all, there is noise. Therefore, technology is needed to predict lung cancer using CT-scan images to produce a fast and accurate diagnosis, namely by using the Deep Learning Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) algorithm for image classification.

Learn More
