Show Me What You Got: Kickstarting My New Gay Life in Melbourne
<p>Like many queer kids, I spent the earliest years of my adult life running away. The small town in southwest England where I grew up was so bereft of other residents<em> </em>“like me” that I had no practical understanding of how to form relationships with other queer folk.</p>
<p>I felt so isolated within these settings that I deliberately chose to study at a university on the other side of the country, repeatedly moving cities in the years after this as I tried to find a community to which I could root myself. Following two separate work placements in Germany — and the pandemic, which brought me back to my parents’ house in southwest England — I tried my luck at London.</p>
