How to play Least Count

LeastCount is an easy and fun card game that can be played between 2 or more players. Culturally its commonly played in India and sub-continent but it’s quickly catching up on other parts of the world. I understand very few people know how to play this game. So let me share it here:

Game rules:
The goal of this game is to push your opponents to reach 200 points before you do. The last person to avoid reaching 200 points wins the game.

The game consists of multiple rounds. In each round, from a deck of 52 cards, each player gets 7 cards to play with (drawn random, cannot see opponent’s cards). Without knowing the total (sum of all cards on player’s hand) of opponent’s hand, each player must take turn in losing highest value cards, thereby keeping their individual scores to a lesser value. To close a round, player could call “show”. At this point, the caller must have it’s total less than that of all opponents. This is considered as a “Good show” and the caller get zero (0) points to its total.

If there is any opponent who has their total less than or equal to that of the caller, it is considered a “Bad show” and the player with least total gets zero points, the caller gets maximum points (40) as penalty and all others get their respective points. First player to achieve 200 points is knocked-out of the tournament. Likewise, multiple rounds are played until there is only 1 winner at the end.
