In depth look at the Redsox acquisitions in Kiké Hernandez trade

On Tuesday, July 25th, the Boston Redsox traded super-utility man Kiké Hernandez back to his former team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he had already spent 6 years across the span between 2015–2020.

In exchange, Boston acquired two relievers in 25 year-old Nick Robertson and 26 year-old Justin Hagenman from the Dodgers AAA affiliate, the Oklahoma City Dodgers.

The trade also came with a compensation arrangement too. Boston sent over $1.1 million in cash considerations, making Los Angeles pay around 1/3 of Hernandez’s remaining contract, while Boston has to pay the remaining $2.5 million that was due to Hernandez in 2023, who already has earned his $6 million this year.
